Presentation:   Dust Collector Protection Systems

David Hawkins, CET will be speaking about industrial fire suppression systems for the protection of Dust Collectors.  David is the Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Fike Corporation, covering 6 states and 46 distributor locations.  He has been with Fike Corporation for the past 4 years and in the fire and life safety industry for 19 years.  David has a B.S. from Belhaven University and has NICET Level III Certification in Fire Alarm and Special Hazards, as well as Certification as a Portable and Fixed Fire Extinguishing Specialist.

Overview

David’s presentation will focus on the aspects of fire protection of combustible dusts and the special hazards fire protection pre-engineered systems used for their protection.  A discussion of the nature of combustible dusts and the applicable NFPA standards will be covered as well as venting requirements and relevant examples of the types of protection systems recommended.
