Continuing for Winter 2021: PDHs will be available to Chapter members at no cost.  If you are not a current member you may still enjoy the presentation at no charge, or pay $10 at registration to be granted a PDH.

This is an online event.  You must join from a computer, no dial-in only information is available. The meeting details will be made available when you register.

In this one-hour seminar, the basics of life safety design and hot to design a code compliant firestopping installation into projects are covered.  Further, this course covers major issues in design such as coordination for the trades, data cabling, plastic pipes, "simple" through penetrations, construction joints and curtain walls.

Meeting Invite will be via Microsoft Teams or Zoom and will be provided to all Registrants upon accepting the invite as the date approaches.

  • UL Systems
  • Major issues and examples.

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this module the participant will be able to:

1.     Understanding codes and the steps necessary to become code compliant.

2.     Learn the types of penetrations by trade.

3.     Understanding of the UL System approach to managing the firestop process.

Presenter - Gene Markievich
Specified Technologies Inc.

Gene is the South Atlantic Regional Healthcare Manager for STI and has worked in the healthcare industry for over 40 years in the firestop, surgical, infection prevention, research, manufacturing and service arena.  After attending Penn State Erie he joined AMSCO (American Sterilizer Company, STERIS) in their R&D Engineering section.  During a 29 year career time was also spent in logistics engineering, marketing, field sales and project management.  Following AMSCO/STERIS he promoted and sold for Belimed and a Skytron distributor.  He is an AIA, CSI, AMFP and active ASHE national and chapter member in TN, NC, SC, GA, AL, and FL.
